This 2-semester course is designed to develop and improve the
ability to present information using various computer programs and to introduce
students to programming concepts.
Such skills as desktop publishing using Adobe PhotoShop, video editing using
Video Studio 10 plus and Adobe Premier Elements, Web authoring using Macromedia
DreamWeaver and creating Animation using Adobe Flash 2004 will be covered. Students
will create short movies and animations of school events and other topics of
student interest. In addition programming concepts will be introduced with scripting
units in Adobe Flash, and elementary game creation using MS Visual Basic.
Keyboarding and Computer Applications
1 semester ½ credit
This one semester course is designed to develop and improve alphabetic as well as numeric keyboarding skills needed for computer use. Emphasis is placed on the preparation in correct form of a research paper, including an outline, the title page, the table of contents, the manuscript with footnotes and the bibliography. Attention is given to the typing of correspondence including personal and business letters, composition at the computer and typing from rough drafts. Students will get an introduction to useful communication programs such as PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Access.
Summer Video Editing and Animation Course
This 2 week class
is designed to introduce students to movie making and creating a short animation.
Each student’s summer project will be based on a nursery rhyme or fairy
tale.
Movie Making Work
Each student will tell a fairy tale in front of the camera. Students will use
the ShowBiz video editing program to combine the Long Shots and Close Ups to
make a narration video.
Animation Work
Students will work with a number of tools available in the Flash animation program
to create scenes that show the action for the story they told on camera.
A DVD of their
work will be created at the end of the course.
